The Niger State Police Command has neutralized an armed robber who was wearing a military uniform during a gunfire exchange with a group of robbers along the Lambata-Maje-Suleja road in the state.

The robbers, who were targeting motorists, were confronted by the police near the Numbawa/Malam-karo point.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, stated that the incident took place on November 20, 2025, following a tip-off regarding robbers targeting motorists along the Lambata-Maje-Suleja road.

He explained that during the shootout, one suspect dressed in a military uniform was neutralized, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.

β€œThe police patrol team engaged the suspects at a police checkpoint near Numbawa/Malam-karo, killing one and scattering the others, who fled with gunshot wounds,” the PRO stated.

The police authorities revealed that items recovered from the scene include an improvised wooden gun, a mobile phone, and a flashlight.

Abiodun added that the deceased suspect was taken to the Suleja hospital morgue, and the area has been secured to restore normalcy.
