Police nab 15 suspects for thuggery, recover dangerous weapons in Niger

The Niget State Police command has arrested fifteen miscreants and recovered some dangerous weapons in its effort to eradicate thuggery in Minna and environs.

The state command in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the thugs were nabbed in a continuous effort to eradicate thuggery and in compliance with the directive of the Commissionser of Police CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman to sustain raids and sting operations against miscreants and hoodlums in Minna.

He explained that on 21st April, 2025 at about 01.45am, Area Commander Minna led Police patrol teams with DPO Chanchaga Division to Shango Area and its environs in Chanchaga which led to arrest of fifteen suspected miscreants.

Items recovered from the thugs include two cutlasses, one sickle, one scissors, one knife, six sticks, cannabis and other illicit drugs.

All suspects are under investigation and will be prosecuted accordingly immediately after the investigation.

The Commsnd further reassured of its commitment to sanitise and stamp out thuggery in Minna metropolis for economic advancement in line with the vision of New Niger.
