The Bauchi State Police Command has dismissed rumours claiming that bandits operating in parts of the state had been granted any form of truce or amnesty.
Dismissing the claims, the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, on Tuesday led a team of security chiefs on a confidence-building visit to Mansur town in Alkaleri Local Government Area, following recent security concerns in the area. During the visit, he reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
According to a statement issued on Friday, the delegation included officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services, and Nigerian Forest Security Service.
The visit also featured an inspection of the Forward Operating Base currently under construction by the Bauchi State Government.
During the engagement, the statement made it clear that neither the Bauchi State Government nor any security agency held talks with bandits, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The command assured the public that security remains a top priority, urging residents to go about their lawful activities while remaining vigilant and promptly reporting suspicious persons or activities to the security agencies.
