The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun State Chapter, has expressed concern that the upcoming Judiciary Service Commission (JSC) meeting may serve as a propaganda tool to undermine their pursuit of fairness and justice.
Osun JUSUN chairman, Comrade Idris Adedayo Adeniran, made this statement available to DAILY POST on Tuesday in Osogbo.
Osun JUSUN, while expressing astonishment at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Osogbo branch, seemingly aligning with the Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, instead of fostering reconciliation between both parties, has also rejected any attempts to leverage the JSC meeting to pressure JUSUN into resuming work without a satisfactory agreement.
DAILY POST recalls that the Osun JUSUN chapter initiated an indefinite strike action on September 19, 2025, to advocate for the ratification of the 2023 and 2024 promotions of its members.
Adeniran stated, “We fully support the JSC meeting. However, we are concerned that the announcement by the NBA leadership regarding the JSC meeting appears to have been made without involving JUSUN, despite our ongoing strike and the fact that the state judiciary is currently inactive.
“This raises doubts that the meeting may be used as propaganda to undermine our struggle for fairness and justice. We reject any attempts to utilize the JSC meeting as a means to pressure JUSUN into resuming work without a satisfactory agreement.
“It is surprising to see the NBA leadership seemingly siding with the Honourable Chief Judge rather than taking on a mediatory role.”
The Osun JUSUN chairman also reiterated the union's earlier position that the strike would not be called off until their demands were met, and that any official meeting with the state’s chief judge would only occur with the attendance of the JUSUN national president.
“We reaffirm our steadfast commitment to achieving justice and fairness for all JUSUN members, focusing on:
“Timely and merit-based career advancement opportunities for the 2024 and 2025 promotions.
“Enhanced working conditions, benefits, and overall well-being.
“We reiterate our unwavering commitment to our demands and will continue negotiations with the Honourable Chief Judge.
“No intimidation will deter us from pursuing fairness and justice for JUSUN members in Osun State. Our demands are legitimate, reasonable, and long overdue. We will persist until they are fully met and our rights are acknowledged by the Honourable Chief Judge,” he added.
“Any official meeting will include the National Leadership of JUSUN, who are best suited to negotiate on behalf of the union,” he concluded.
