The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed grave concern over the disturbing incident in Kurmin Wali community of Kajuru Local Government Area where over 170 church members were abducted by suspected bandits.

Hon Maria Dogo, State Publicity Secretary, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a statement on Thursday, said the embarrassing attempt by government and security officials to initially deny what the people were already suffering was too much to bear

It said since 2015, the PDP has deliberately taken the position not to politicise security matters, opting instead for restraint and constructive engagement whenever lives are involved. The statement said “Unfortunately, this sense of responsibility has been exploited by a government that prefers denial to honesty.”

According to the statement, the party watched with dismay as insecurity deepened across Kajuru, Kauru, Kachia, parts of Lere and other Southern Kaduna communities, while government appointees and sponsored social media operatives shamelessly praised the government for tackling insecurity,” that exists only in press statements.

According to the statement, the pattern of denial followed by reluctant admission exposes a government more interested in managing narratives than protecting lives.

It said denial does not stop bandits, just as propaganda does not rescue abducted citizens.
