Paul shared a picture on Instagram on last Thursday evening of him holding his wife’s hand as she lay in a hospital bed.

He has now given fans an update with how Jill is doing in a lengthy post, as well as sharing what her recovery has taught him over the past few days.

He shared that it “has “In sickness and in health means more to me now”, that you shouldn’t hide your illness from your kids, that people can’t do life alone, and he has felt his loved one’s support.

Paul also shared a sweet picture of him kissing his wife on the cheek, with the caption: “Jill and I are so deeply appreciative of all the messages, prayers, love and well wishes we’ve received over the last week.

“Jill is getting a little stronger each day, and we’re deeply grateful.

“There have been literally thousands of messages. So many that we haven’t been able to respond to everyone, but please know this: we have felt every bit of it.

“Messages from family. Friends. People we’ve met. People we’ve never met. Strangers who somehow made us feel less alone.

“I was at a bakery today, and a woman stopped me to say she had heard about my wife and to please send Jill her love. I don’t even know if she realized how much that meant to me.

“It has been one of the most heartwarming reminders that community is real. That kindness still moves. That people really do care.

“I like to reflect. And honestly, posting has become a kind of journal for me. A place to process life while I’m still inside of it.

“So, for what it’s worth, these are some of the biggest things I’ve been learning while Jill has been recovering.

“This season has reminded me that “in sickness and in health” is not a line to be said lightly.

“That children don’t need to be protected from all of life, they need to be lovingly prepared for it.

“That none of us are built to do life alone. And that the moment we are in will never come again.

“Thank you for loving my family. We have felt it more than you know.”

Paul and Jill have two sons together, Kingston and Liam.

The star joined the Celebs Go Dating cast in 2018 for its fifth series.

He is also an expert on Married At First Sight.
