Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has presented himself at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja after a viral video surfaced online allegedly showing him holding a firearm during an encounter with a road user in Lagos.
The development was confirmed by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, via a WhatsApp message to our correspondent.
The video clip, which circulated widely last week, depicted Pastor Adefarasin holding a metallic object while engaging in a conversation with a passerby who was recording the incident.
The footage sparked speculation on social media, with many suggesting that the cleric was wielding a firearm.34
Pastor Adefarasin released a statement on his official social media platforms, addressing his congregation and clarifying the situation.
He described the public interpretation of the video as a misunderstanding, maintaining that the object in question was not a weapon and stressing that he did not threaten or aim it at anyone.
Confirming his appearance at the Command, CSP Hundeyin stated: “No one is above the law. Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives.”;
He added that investigations into the incident have commenced, particularly in light of the video showing the pastor holding what appeared to be a gun-like object while operating an unregistered vehicle.
“The outcome of the investigation will be made public,”; Hundeyin said.
