The stars of the upcoming drama “Good Boy”;; have shared their thoughts on what the series means to them!
“Good Boy”;; is a comic action drama about a group of former national athletes who become police officers through a special recruitment program. Swapping medals for badges, they take on a world full of corruption, deception, and injustice.
Park Bo Gum, who stars as patrol officer Yoon Dong Jooâa former Olympic boxing gold medalistâcalled the drama “a new beginning and a challenge.”;; In his first major action role, Park Bo Gum put his all into every scene, fully immersing himself in the character.
On working with the cast, nicknamed the “Goodvengers,”;; Park Bo Gum said, “I had so much fun, I didn’t even notice time passing.”;; He added, “I was genuinely happy to have been able to meet great people through ‘Good Boy.’ I’m thankful to everyone!”;;
Kim So Hyun, who plays Ji Han Naâa senior patrol officer and former Olympic gold medalist in shootingâdescribed the drama as “a project that helped me face my fears and become a little braver.”;; To take on the unfamiliar challenge of firearm action scenes, Kim So Hyun went through intense training and repeated posture corrections to bring her character to life.
She said, “I’ve always wanted to try new things, but when the moment came, I often felt scared. This project helped me gradually overcome that fear. Playing Ji Han Na was a time of personal growth that made me stronger as well.”;;
Lee Sang Yi called the drama “a project that didn’t require any hesitation [in deciding whether to accept],”;; saying, “As soon as I read the script, I thought, ‘I have to do this.’”;;
To prepare for the role of Kim Jong Hyun, a former national fencing team member turned detective, Lee Sang Yi learned fencing for the first time and took on the challenge of playing a character who is both cynical and warmâsomething new for him.“I think viewers will see a completely different side of me [in this drama],”;; he said. “I’m excited to watch it myself.”;;
Heo Sung Tae, who plays Go Man Sik, a former national wrestling team member and the tough but caring leader of a special crimes unit, showed both strong action skills and genuine leadership in the role. The actor shared, “‘Good Boy’ is the drama that I worked on during the most difficult time of my life, and it is also the set that gave me the greatest strength.”;;
“It’s no exaggeration to say I poured all my energy into the action and comedy,”;; he said, before half-joking, “I’m worried that I may not have any ad-libs left over for the rest of my acting career because I used them all on ‘Good Boy.’”;;
Meanwhile, Tae Won Suk described the drama as “a project I’m proud to be part of.”;; The actor plays Shin Jae Hong, a senior patrol officer and former discus bronze medalist, who displays impressive strength with just his bare hands and shoulders.
After reading the script, Tae Won Suk felt drawn to the story and trusted the world built by writer Lee Dae Il, the skills of director Shin Na Yeon, and the character of Shin Jae Hong. Calling it a fateful meeting, he said, “From the very beginning, I knew I wanted to join this project.”;;
“Good Boy”;; is set to premiere on May 31 at 10:40 p.m. KST.
