PADDY PIMBLETT is set to serve a medical suspension following his brutal UFC 324 loss to Justin Gaethje.

The Liverpudlian fell short in his bid to become only the fourth Brit to win a title in ‘s top promotion in Las Vegas last weekend.

Pimblett, 31, was , which he lost via unanimous decision.

The beating dished out by resulted in ‘The Baddy’ being taken to the hospital for further medical assessment.

Thankfully, was okay and he later attended an afterparty at Zouk nightclub at Resorts World.

But the fight itself has resulted in a minimum 30-day medical ban for the former Cage Warriors featherweight champion.

Section 467.562 of the , which is entitled “suspension of licensee for medical reason”, states that a fighter in Pimblett’s condition “must be suspended until it is shown that he is fit for further competition.”

Pimblett’s 30-day period of ineligibility is somewhat standard for boxers and fighters.

But given the bruising nature of his defeat to Gaethje, it’s likely that Nevada Athletic Commission could INCREASE the suspension.

The NAC has the power to increase its ban to a maximum of 180 days.

Such lengthy suspensions, however, can be lifted earlier provided Pimblett undergoes further medical tests and is cleared by a doctor.

Two-time interim champion Gaethje is also set to serve a 30-day suspension.

Pimblett showed tremendous heart to battle Gaethje until the final horn of the fight, in which he was TWICE poked in the eye.

A crestfallen Pimblett said in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan: “I wanted to be walking away with that belt, Joe.

“I know how tough I am anyway. I don’t need to prove it to anyone. But there’s no other man I’d rather lose to than ‘The Highlight’.

“Justin Gaethje is someone I’ve loved watching growing up watching the UFC and it shows why he’s a legend.”

He added: “I thought 48-47 was a fair scorecard.

“I’m not gonna lie, he hit me with a body shot in the first round, he hit me in the solarplexus and it got me.

“I thought I was winning the first round up until that point.

“But, you live and you learn. I’m 31, I’ll be back better. You haven’t seen the last of me.”
