What is Dance of the 41 about?

Netflix’s releases this week have been interesting titles that are sure to have us glued to our seats.  Amongst them is the film Dance of the 41 which has already piqued plenty of people’s interest. Currently rated at a 7.3 out of 10 on IMDb, the movie seems to be one that’s worth adding to your watchlist.

What is Dance of the 41 about?

Based on a true story, the movie follows Ignacio de la Torre (played by Sense 8 alum Alfonso Herrera), a Mexican congressman who is married to the President’s daughter while being a closeted gay man. The film tracks the hardships he faces personally and professionally.

Knowing that the government would disapprove of his relationship with a man, Ignacio must choose between following his duties or following his heart. One way could lead to the end of his life, while the other would mean the end of his true love. Which direction will he ultimately go?

A gay congressman marries the Mexican president’s daughter but cavorts with a young man at a secret club. And then scandal hits. Based on a true story.

Aside from Herrera, the cast of Dance of the 41 also includes Emiliano Zurita as Evaristo Rivas, Mabel Cadena as Amada Díaz, Fernando Becerril as Porfirio Díaz, and Rodrigo Virago as Felix Díaz.
