The Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed concern regarding alleged intentions by a broadcasting station to seize its land.

The union voiced its worries in a statement released following an emergency meeting.

This statement was signed by Abiodun Atilola (Chairman, State Information Chapel), Musliudeen Adebayo (Secretary, Correspondent Chapel), and Mosunmola Akinola (Member, MOAK Chapel).

The union accused the management of the broadcasting station of planning to trespass and encroach upon a plot of land owned by the union.

In the statement, the union emphasized that this land has been under its control for many years and is supported by a Certificate of Occupancy issued by the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development of Oyo State.

Furthermore, the union urged the management of the broadcasting station to cease any attempts to forcibly take over the land.

The union also appealed to the state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for intervention.

Additionally, it notified security agencies about the situation.

The statement shared with DAILY POST on Saturday reads: “The congress calls on the owners of Dominion Broadcast to halt any attempt to trespass or encroach upon a parcel of land owned by the union.

“The congress urges the Oyo State Government, led by Engineer Seyi Makinde, to address the owner of the broadcasting station. The congress also calls on security agencies to be informed about this situation.
