Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State expressed his astonishment regarding the use of drones by Boko Haram militants to launch attacks on soldiers.

Zulum noted that even with well-disseminated intelligence indicating a potential attack in the Mafa area of the state, the troops were unable to prevent it.

The governor shared this information on Friday during a post-assessment visit to the locations that were attacked by Boko Haram in the early hours of Thursday.

Speaking to the press, Governor Zulum voiced his serious concerns about the rise of this new threat, stating that the successful deployment of a drone by the terrorists to target a significant military asset reveals a major vulnerability in Nigeria's airspace security.

“I suspect there may be internal sabotage that needs to be identified and addressed,” he remarked.

“We should not place blame on one another; instead, we must unite to tackle this issue,” the governor emphasized.
