The Abia State government has refuted a report circulating on social media, in which Governor Alex Otti was purportedly quoted as saying he had no association with Lagos and that he would make Lagos appear like a village.

The state government was responding to a trending report titled “Governor Otti Fires Back at the Demolition of Igbo Businesses.”

The report also claimed Otti stated: “I have no business with Lagos; I am not in competition with Lagos. My competition is with China and Dubai.”

“When I am finished with Abia, Lagos will seem like a village.”

However, a statement released by Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser to Governor Otti on Media and Publicity, on Sunday night, labeled the statement as false, baseless, and a product of unfounded propaganda from frustrated politicians.

Ekeoma mentioned that his principal detests childish and boastful displays and emphasized that the Abia Governor would never make a statement that reflects arrogance, thoughtlessness, or divisiveness.

“Considering the strong bond that has developed between Governor Otti and his counterpart, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, speaking directly to the Governor off-camera about any subject is quite easy,” he stated.

He accused the creators of the fake news of being the same desperate politicians who submitted petitions and inciting articles as soon as they learned that President Bola Tinubu would be visiting to inaugurate some projects in Abia.
