Otti gives employment to woman for assisting blind husband in class

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has granted automatic employment to Mrs Akaniro Gethrude Chinyere, the wife of a blind teacher at Ozuitem Secondary School in Bende LGA.

Mrs Chinyere has been assisting her husband in teaching in the secondary school without pay.

Her story had earlier gone viral in the media.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Basic and Secondary Education , Kenechukwu Nwosu, presented Mrs Chinyere her appointment letter.

Otti had prior to the employment , instructed the special adviser to visit Ozuitem Secondary School to take note of the school’s existing challenges and to confirm a viral video about the blind teacher and his supportive wife.

Presenting the letter of employment to Mrs Chinyere, the special adviser, Nwosu, said the recent employment of 5,300 teachers will help in enhancing the teacher-pupil ratio in Abia public schools.

Responding to the development, the new employee, Mrs Chinyere and her husband, Akaniro, thanked Governor Otti for the appointment, saying they were overwhelmed by his kindness.
