Osun NYSC extends service year for 119 Batch B, Stream I corps members

The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Osun State has extended the service year of 119 corps members for various infractions.

This is as Osun NYSC revealed that it had disengaged 2,057 corps members from the 2024 Batch B Stream I service year.

The low key passing out ceremony, it disclosed held across the various local government areas in the state and it marked the successful completion of the mandatory one-year national service, with the corps members receiving their Certificates of National Service.

The Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim supervising the ceremony in Osogbo on Tuesday disclosed that, “a total of 2,057 Corps Members were successfully disengaged, while 86 received extensions and 33 were declared as absconders due to misconducts that contravenes the NYSC bye-laws.”;

Accompanied by Akinola Simeon, Deputy Director, South-West Area Office II, along with other senior officials of the scheme, ensured a seamless and well-coordinated distribution of certificates across the various local government areas.

Speaking at the Olorunda LGA distribution center, Agbor issued a word of caution to the corps members.

He urged them to, “avoid night journeys, travel only from approved motor parks, and refrain from wearing the NYSC uniform while traveling to ensure personal safety.’

While emphasising the NYSC’s pivotal role in fostering national unity across regional and cultural divides, he expressed gratitude to the Almighty for guiding the corps members through their service year and commended them for their resilience in the face of numerous challenges.

In attendance at the ceremony were Local Government Inspectors, Zonal Inspectors, and other NYSC officials.
