The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun State Branch, has declared a temporary halt to its ongoing industrial action.
This suspension, as stated by Osun JUSUN Chairman, Comrade Idris Adedayo Adeniran, comes after advancements in resolving the dispute with the state judiciary management.
The announcement indicated that the suspension was sanctioned by the National Secretariat of JUSUN, under the leadership of National President, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu, following discussions on the progress made in negotiations between the union and relevant authorities.
Adeniran also revealed that the decision was unanimously supported by members during a congress held at the High Court premises in Osogbo on Monday, December 15, 2025.
“The strike, which commenced on September 19, 2025, will be suspended effective December 16, 2025, to allow members to engage in scheduled activities of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
“This suspension will permit affected workers to attend the JSC for the 2024 promotion exercise and will also enable the management of the three branches of the Osun State Judiciary to submit the list of officers eligible for promotion in 2025.
“The suspension will take effect from December 16, 2025, to facilitate members' participation before the Judicial Service Commission for the 2024 promotion exercise,” the statement noted.
The statement further mentioned that eligible officers for the 2025 promotion exercise have been instructed to appear before the JSC on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, according to the Commission’s schedule.
The JUSUN chairman stressed that the suspension of the industrial action is temporary, clarifying that it is meant to allow the judiciary management to address unresolved issues and clear the backlog of work in courts throughout the state.
“This suspension will be temporary to enable the management to organize and resolve the backlog of work in all the courts in the Osun State Judiciary,” he stated.
The statement called on the judiciary management to work together with heads of High Courts, Magistrates’ Courts, District Customary Courts, and Customary Courts to ensure a seamless resumption of duties, particularly after the Christmas break.
The union also confirmed that progress has been made on several of its demands, including the rectification of the 2024 junior staff promotion exercise by the Judicial Service Commission.
JUSUN assured its members and the public that discussions with relevant stakeholders are still ongoing.
