In 2024, Ore, 39, confirmed his separation from Portia, the mother of his children, after nine years of marriage.
During an appearance on Paul C. Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast, Ore expressed how he felt “terrified” to confront a situation that had troubled him for 30 years.
He shared that his addiction began at just nine years old after being introduced to pornography by a friend’s brother, and he admitted that the intrigue “set in immediately.”
Following Ore’s disclosure, his ex Portia took to social media to post a photo of their children, Roman, seven, and Genie, four.
Portia beamed with joy as she posed with her children during an autumn outing.
She appeared to take a jab at Ore by playing Taylor Swift’s song "Father Figure" in the background, which heavily emphasizes themes of betrayal.
The lyrics describe a partner who is “young, wayward, and lost in the cold” and include phrases like “you pulled the wrong trigger.”
Ore spoke about his struggles that have lasted three decades.
He openly stated: “I was nine when I was introduced to pornography. That’s when my addiction started.”
Ore continued: “While I wouldn’t say the addiction set in immediately, the intrigue began right away, and it didn’t take long for that intrigue to consume my thoughts.
“It was something that was destroying my life from the inside out.
“But it was also something I turned to from an early age as a way to cope with trauma.”
He informed expert Paul that he was sharing his story to “guide my own children.”
The TV and radio host, based in the UK, shares two children with Portia, with son Roman born in 2018 and daughter Genie born in 2021.
Ore, who admitted he had become a “master masker” during his childhood due to fears of being sent back to Nigeria, revealed the personal “shame” he has felt.
FAMILY FIRST
He explained that his courageous confessions were for the sake of his family.
Ore said: “I’m sharing this to protect my kids.
“Shame kept me silent for 30 years. It took me 30 years, two deaths, and a divorce to finally say: here’s what’s happening.”
He added: “The reason I felt compelled to speak out about this is that I want to guide my own children when it comes to these issues, as they will encounter it.”
“They’re going to come across it.”
Ore confessed: “I never imagined I’d share this with anyone, but in the past year, I’ve spoken to friends, family, and some amazing, supportive individuals in my professional life who have all shown so much love and pride in me for discussing something that affects so many of us.”
SAD SPLIT
The couple announced their separation in October, with the presenter later confirming the news on Instagram.
Their breakup surprised long-time followers who had witnessed their engagement, marriage, and the birth of two children.
They first met in 2010 while studying at Loughborough University.
Portia was also a significant support for Ore when he competed on in 2016, ultimately winning the glitterball trophy alongside pro partner Joanne Clifton.
Avoiding rumors of the often-discussed “Strictly curse,” Ore ensured Portia connected with Joanne during their time on the show together.
However, he revealed their sorrowful split in an emotional message to fans.
The statement read: “Hi everyone. Portia and I are saddened to announce that we separated earlier this year [2024.]
“We’re incredibly grateful for all the love you’ve shown us over the years.
“And we ask you to respect our privacy as we navigate this challenging transition.
“We will not be making any further comments. Please be kind, always.”
