Following the increasing spate of violent attacks linked with cult activities and drug abuse, youths in Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State, have demanded a total end to the menace.

While staging a peaceful protest to bring an end to the situation, youths within the town in their numbers called for an immediate end to the violence, which had in the past months led to the killings of no fewer than 48 youths in the community.

According to the President of the Ondo Kingdom Youth Forum, Engr. Kayode Folayegun, who led the rally, with a proper justice system in place, the activities of cultists will be tamed.

Folayegun, who stressed the need for those responsible for the killings to be prosecuted, disclosed that youths in the community will henceforth join the fight against cultism and drug abuse by identifying perpetrators.

He said, “We can no longer fold our arms while our youths are being murdered. There must be consequences for anyone found guilty of such heinous acts.”;

Also, a community leader and activist, Joseph Akinlaja, who commended the youths for their resolve to eradicate cultism from the community, urged them to remain committed to the ideals of peace, unity, and development.

Akinlaja, a two-term member of the House of Representatives, also encouraged the youths to make informed choices and avoid being lured into criminality under any guise.
