“Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy” To Make North American Premiere At New York Asian Film Festival 2025

Get pumped for the 24th edition of the New York Asian Film Festival (hereafter NYAFF)!

Held from July 11 to 27 at the Lincoln Center in New York City, NYAFF 2025 features screenings of over 100 films as well as stage appearances by acclaimed filmmakers, international stars, and other notable guests.

This year’s Korean Film Showcase features a total of 24 films, including 17 feature films and seven shorts. The Opening Night also showcased the world premiere of “Informant,” with director Kim Seok attending the premiere alongside lead actor Heo Sung Tae, who is acclaimed for his role in “Squid Game.”

Included in the Korean feature film lineup is the upcoming film “Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy,” which will make its North American premiere at the NYAFF 2025. The screening will take place on Saturday July 26 at 9 p.m. EDT at the SVA Theatre (Silas Theatre).

Directed by Kim Byung Woo and based on the popular web novel of the same name, “Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy” follows the story of Kim Dok Ja (Ahn Hyo Seop), who suddenly finds himself living in the world of a fantasy novel he was reading. Armed with the knowledge of what happened in the novel, Kim Dok Ja sets out to save the world from ending. Lee Min Ho stars as Yoo Joong Hyuk, the protagonist from the novel that Kim Dok Ja read, and the film further features a star-studded cast of Chae Soo Bin, Shin Seung Ho, Nana, BLACKPINK’sJisoo, and child actor Kwon Eun Seong.
