The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Okigwe Zone has taken decisive steps to reposition itself as a formidable political force, convening a high-powered stakeholders’ meeting to address internal challenges and consolidate unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during the meeting, the State Vice Chairman of PDP (Okigwe Zone), Chief Chuks Ajaelu, underscored the importance of unity and collective resolve among party leaders and members in the quest to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

“It is a normal thing to quarrel in a family. But in doing that, every member of the family should know its boundaries. What is important is how the family is formidably united after a minor misunderstanding. PDP is a big family that can’t be divided by mere internal squabbles,”; Ajaelu stated.

In a unanimous move, the stakeholders passed a vote of confidence on the National Secretary of PDP, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, and the Imo State PDP chairman, Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, citing their “unusual performances”; and leadership in sustaining the party’s vibrancy in Imo State.

Ajaelu commended party leaders for their dedication to peace and reconciliation and urged continued commitment to the party’s collective agenda. He cautioned against divisive tendencies that could undermine efforts to regain the people’s trust.

A key outcome of the meeting was the establishment of the Okigwe Zonal Reconciliation Committee, mandated to engage aggrieved party members across the zone and foster renewed unity.

In a symbolic gesture aimed at reinforcing cohesion and goodwill, wrappers were presented to members of the Okigwe zonal executive, LGA chairmen, women leaders, and youth leaders.

The meeting drew attendance from notable figures and stakeholders drawn from across the six LGAs of Okigwe Zone.
