The Ogun State Government, along with two prominent renewable energy service companies (RESCOs), has formed a significant partnership agreement aimed at generating approximately 1,100 MW of solar power in the state to enhance its industrial foundation.
The companies involved are Tranos Contracting Limited, which will establish a 600MW solar panel manufacturing facility and battery production in the state, and Vision Gas and Power Limited, which will also set up a 500MW solar panel manufacturing plant with the potential for expansion to 1GW.
This partnership was formalized at the request of Nigeria's Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu in Abuja during the Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum (NREIF) 2025, which is taking place from October 14th to 15th, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel.
A statement from the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Media & Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, indicated that the forum was convened under the Federal Ministry of Power and co-organized with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), and the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE), with Vice President Kashim Shettima serving as Chairman for 2025.
The forum's theme, “Implementing the Nigeria First Policy: Facilitating Local Content Development and Manufacturing in the Renewable Energy Ecosystem NREIF2025,” positions it as Nigeria’s leading platform for shaping the future of renewable energy manufacturing by bringing together global leaders, investors, and policymakers, among others.
“These partnerships will ultimately highlight Ogun State as a leader in innovation, industrial readiness, and inclusive growth, while reaffirming our commitment to economic diversification and environmental sustainability,” the statement noted.
“This aligns with our vision to attract investments that foster a robust economic foundation, create jobs, and ensure that our state remains a model of innovation and sustainability.
“By enhancing local capacity for clean energy production, we are reducing reliance on imports and establishing a groundwork for inclusive industrial growth,” the statement concluded.
