Former Governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Gbenga Daniel, on Sunday accused the state government of operating under a three-person administration, where “no one outside this small cabal can offer advice without facing ostracism or victimization.”

Daniel also criticized the current administration for its lack of tolerance, silencing independent voices, and undermining federal projects meant for the residents of Ijebu North.

He made these statements during the Midterm Community Assessment and Review Tour of the BATOGD Movement in Ijebu North Local Government.

The former governor asserted that, despite his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, he has experienced “political theatrics,” including a controversial suspension instigated by “two or three aides of the Governor.”

He maintained that the accusations against him and the BATOGD Movement are part of a larger scheme to suppress dissent, emphasizing that neither he nor the movement has engaged in anti-party activities.

Daniel stated, “What we have in Ogun State is a closed three-person government. A system where no one outside a small cabal can provide counsel without being ostracized, victimized, or targeted for persecution.

“Governance is being conducted solely for a select few.

“Our loyalty to the party and the President is steadfast. We will not be swayed by political witch-hunts. We will continue to advocate for our people.”

He further alleged that teachers, community leaders, and traditional rulers were being threatened with termination or demolition simply for supporting alternative viewpoints or offering constructive criticism.

“This is not governance; it is a cult, operated with dictatorial tendencies, treating our commonwealth as a personal estate,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, the senator cautioned that the state government’s “unnecessary obstruction” could lead to Ijebu North forfeiting federal funding for two ongoing rehabilitation projects—Itanrin Road and the General Hospital Road.

“If this stop-work order is not lifted by December 2025, the federal funding will be lost. The money will be returned to the treasury,” he warned.
