Ogun Customs Command rakes in 15bn in four months

The Ogun II Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced a revenue generation of ₦15.2bn for the first quarter of 2025.

According to the command, the revenue marked a 40% increase compared to the ₦9.2bn recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.

The Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Bisi Alade, disclosed this on Friday during a press conference held at the command’s headquarters in Abeokuta, attributing the surge to the professionalism, diligence, and dedication of its officers.

Alade also revealed that the command discovered another unauthorized factory that was operating illegally, and had brought it under excise control.

The Area Comptroller maintained that the achievement was an indication of its unwavering commitment to the economic growth and development of the nation.

He said, “ I am delighted to announce that through our strategic efforts and unified operations, the Ogun II Area Command has generated the sum of Fifteen billion, one hundred and ninety-one million, two hundred and twenty-seven thousand, five hundred and three Naira, eighty-two kobo 15,191,227,503.82 as revenue collected for the first Quarter of 2025.

“ Interestingly, this revenue represents about a 40% increase compared to the Nine billion, one hundred and sixty-five million, seven hundred and seventeen thousand, one hundred and sixty-two naira and ninety-nine kobo 9,165,717,162.99kb recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.

”;; In addition to the Fifteen billion, one hundred and ninety-one million, two hundred and twenty-seven thousand, five hundred and three naira, eighty-two kobo (15,191,227,503.82 kb) which the Command generated in the period under review, the Command also discovered another unauthorized factory that was operating illegally, and the Command brought it under excise control.”;;

Giving a breakdown of the generated revenue, Alade revealed that N8,333,039,874.82kb was collected on excise, on free trade zone, N7,164,777,965.00kb, and on bonded terminal (Import) N1,495,658,869.00kb, was generated, leading to a total of N15.2bn.

He further added that in the month of January, a total of N4,000,335,353.53kb was collected , in February, N3,486,267,681.44kb, March, N3,444,179,992.46kb and in April N4,260,444,476.39kb.

The comptroller, while reaffirming the command’s commitment and the determination to surpass its performance in the coming months, assured of continuous dialogue with stakeholders, local business community and synergy with sister agencies.
