Sunshine Queens head coach, Kayode Olujohungbe, has confessed that his team didn’t play with the confidence required despite the victory over Nasarawa Amazons.

The Owena Whales edged Nasarawa 1-0 at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, on Wednesday.

The win halted Nasarawa Amazons unbeaten run since the start of the 2025-26 NWFL season.

Olujohungbe however praised his team for ending their opponent’s unbeaten streak.

“We didn’t really go all out. We played from the wings but the midfielders did not support the attack too much because we knew they are very dangerous,” Olujohungbe told The Hope newspaper.

“Our watchword for this game was caution. I think we have learnt our lessons here. I don’t think we are going to be defensive in our next home game.”
