The Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Umar Muhammed, has authorized the deployment of 2,380 officers and personnel to enhance the protection of critical national assets, secure public facilities, and ensure the safety of residents during the Yuletide season.
The Commandant indicated that the deployment spans all 16 local government areas of the state, with personnel selected from elite and specialized units, including the Armed Squad, Operational Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) Unit.
A statement from the command's spokesman, Ayoola Micheal Shola, in Ilorin on Saturday, stated that officers have been strategically positioned according to threat assessments and operational needs.
Commandant Umar further emphasized that the command will closely collaborate with other security agencies, including local vigilantes, to ensure effective coverage, quick response, and comprehensive security throughout the festive period.
While extending warm Christmas and New Year wishes to the people of Kwara State, the Commandant issued a strong warning to vandals and troublemakers, asserting that the NSCDC is fully prepared to deal with any attempts to disrupt public peace or interfere with critical assets, and that all offenders will be held accountable under the law.
