NPL: Delta Sports Commission suspends Warri Wolves coach over poor performance

Delta State Sports Commission, DSSC, has suspended Warri Wolves Football Club Head Coach, Mr Aluma Napoleon.

The suspension which is with immediate effect was conveyed in a letter dated 29th September 2025, with reference number DSSC.32/11/91, signed by Okonma Franca, for Executive Chairman.

While the suspended coach has been asked to hand over all official documents and responsibilities, in the interim, the assistant coach, Mr Johny Austin, has been asked to take charge until further notice.

“This decision became necessary following the underperformance of the club which only recently gained promotion to the Nigeria Premier League.

“In the interim the suspended Head Coach has been directed to hand over all official documents and responsibilities to the Assistant Coach, Mr Jonny Austin, who will oversee the affairs of the club until further notice,” the statement said.

The Commission assured fans and stakeholders of its commitment to repositioning the club for improved performance and sustainable success.

Recall that Warri Wolves Football Club on Sunday suffered a home defeat as they lost 1-2 to the visiting Shooting Stars Sports Football Club in a match day 6 encounter played at the Southern Delta University Stadium, Ozoro.
