The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, on Monday fined Gombe United Football Club over disorderly conduct by their fans during a match against Kano Pillars on Sunday.
The fans allegedly threw stones inside the Pantami Township Stadium while the game was in progress.
According to a press statement obtained on Tuesday, the management of Gombe United Football Club is to pay N7 million in addition to a one-match stadium ban for the club’s fans.
The statement also faulted the club’s management for failing to provide the necessary security for the visiting players.
The statement partly read, “In the aftermath of fans’ unruly conduct in another Match Day 11 fixture, Gombe United were fined a total of ₦7 million and a one-match stadium ban to fans for breaches ranging from disruption of the match by fans throwing objects onto the field of play, to disruption of the live broadcast of the match and failure to provide adequate and effective security.”
