Akwa United defender, Franklin Anthony is set to miss the opening fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League season against Bayelsa United, FLYING EZE reports.
Anthony was omitted from the Promise Keepers’ squad due to illness.
He is expected to make a return for the club’s matchday two fixture against Sporting Lagos at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, next week.
The enterprising defender joined Akwa United from Rangers this summer.
Akwa United missed out on the title last season.
Head coach Fatai Osho will oversee his first competitive game in charge of the Uyo club.
