A club employee found five cats living in a storeroom near the home team’s dressing room following ‘s defeat to last month.

And the mother and her four babies were looked after by club staff until Cats Protection took them in.

Cats Protection Employee Alex Hartley told The BBC: “We’ve not had [a call] from a stadium before.

“Everything else really – up chimneys, in woodsheds, everything like that – but never one from a football stadium, so we were all a little bit surprised by it.”;

He added: “There were over 25,000 people in the stadium, and apparently mum was just milling about under the stands while people were there, so [the club] contacted us.

“They all seemed to be in good health – mum had obviously been feeding them really well.

“Because the kittens were a decent weight, [and] mum was herself a little bit skinny, but that happens regularly.

“Clearly, the staff had been helping feed them and keep them in good nick.”;

The cats ended up being named after several players

The cats made quite the impact at the City Ground, so much so that club staff named them after multiple players.

The mum was named Morgan after Forest and England ace , while the females of the litter were dubbed , Murillo and Ibrahim Sangare.

The sole male of the group has been named after Forest cult hero and New Zealand international .

The cats will be made available for adoption after more medicals, micro-chipping and neutering.

Hartley said: “Mum’s really friendly – the kittens are still a little bit shy, but we’re working with them.

“Obviously, we get attached to all mums and kittens, but they’re definitely ones we’re going to remember.”;

But they’ll always have a home at the City Ground, with the club insisting their former residents will “always be welcome”;.
