Not sure he’ll score goals – Petit kicks against Chelsea signing Delap

Former Arsenal star, Emmanuel Petit has kicked against Chelsea signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town this summer.

Petit said he wasn’t sure that Delap would score 25 goals for Enzo Maresca’s side next season.

Chelsea have reached from Ipswich Town this summer.

Delap netted 12 goals in 40 appearances for an Ipswich that was relegated back to the Championship.

He only joined the Tractor Boys in a £15m move from Manchester City but Petit is not convinced that the attacker will succeed at Stamford Bridge.

“Liam Delap has quality, I think he has done a great job at Ipswich, but it is a huge step,”; Petit told PokerStrategy as quoted by Metro UK.

“He has a really bright future and I have respect for him, but going from Ipswich to Chelsea is huge in terms of expectation and pressure, that number nine position at Chelsea has been a curse for so many players.

“Chelsea need a striker who is going to score 25 goals a season, will Delap give you that? I’m not so sure.”;
