Traders at Ariaria International Market, Aba, have declared their support for Abia State government’s plan to remodel the market.

The traders who spoke through the market remodelling sub-committee chairman, Hyacinth Nnabude, said there are no plans by the traders to rebel against the state government and the market’s developer.

Nnabude disclosed that with the current arrangements agreed on by the tripartite committee comprising of the state government, the traders and the developer Checkbest International Limited, no trader will lose his shop as they still retain the right of first refusal.

He assured all the affected traders that they will not be kept out of business during the remodelling period as the developer would provide alternative relocation shops for them.

Another member of the committee, Stanley Meshach, urged those who may still be working against the remodelling project to support it.

On his part, the market developer, Chiedozie Njoku assured the traders that those affected by the remodelling would not lose their shops, adding that the right of first refusal would be given to them in accordance with the tripartite agreement.

Njoku noted that the situation where Ariaria market traders were stripped of their shops during the previous administration would not happen again.
