The Kogi State Government has pledged never to engage in negotiations with criminals, asserting that it possesses the capability to address the ongoing security challenges.

According to DAILY POST, Kogi is one of the North-Central states currently facing an increase in criminal activities, resulting in numerous abductions in recent weeks.

It is worth noting that last week, armed bandits executed two separate kidnappings in the Yagba East Local Government Area; however, security forces managed to rescue five victims a few days later.

Additionally, on Sunday, another incident took place in the Yagba West Local Government Area, where a pastor and his wife were kidnapped during a church service.

During an interview on ‘The Morning Brief’, a program on Channels Television that was monitored by DAILY POST, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, stressed that the state government would not succumb to criminal threats.

“In Kogi State, we do not negotiate. The governor has made it clear that he will not yield to any criminal. We have the capability to eliminate them; we have the means to address the situation, so we will not negotiate with any of them.

“We regret that during the exchange of gunfire between the kidnappers and security forces, two individuals lost their lives. However, many criminals are now aware that Kogi is a no-go zone for them. We have not negotiated with any criminal, and we are not interested in doing so,” he stated.

He further mentioned that the state government will continue to utilize all available security resources to confront and neutralize criminal elements.
