Abakaliki FC head coach,.Ifeanyi Onyedika has attributed his team’s struggles in the Nigeria National League (NNL) to poor playing surface.

The Rice Boys play their home matches at the Pa Ngele Oruta Stadium in Abakaliki.

Abakaliki FC have recorded three wins, four draws and one defeat at their home ground this season.

They occupy last position on the NNL Group B table with 14 points from 15 games.

Onyedika said that his team plays better on a smooth pitch.

“Our position in the NNL table is not giving us any joy at all, more so after our 3-2 defeat at home last weekend by Sporting Lagos,”;; Onyedika told Completesports.

“That loss has pushed us down to the bottom of the table with just four matches left in the season.

“Sometimes, you look at the surface of our home ground, Pa Ngele Oruta Stadium, Abakaliki — it just doesn’t allow the boys the freedom of expression on the pitch.

“We do far better on a smooth pitch — you can attest to that, having seen us play in Awka and at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.”;;

Abakaliki FC will face Ikorodu City in the President Federation Cup semi-final tie next week Wednesday.
