Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist, has asserted that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has been moved to a correctional facility in Sokoto State.

According to DAILY POST, Kanu, who has been held by the Department of State Services (DSS) since 2021, was sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday after being convicted of terrorism-related offenses.

In a statement on his Facebook page, Sowore claimed that the separatist leader was covertly transferred from DSS custody to a prison in Sokoto.

He stated, “The Tinubu administration has secretly relocated Nnamdi Kanu to Sokoto Prison.”

“Indeed, they had already orchestrated this move. Their intention since yesterday was to transfer Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to a notorious prison located in the northern region, where his safety cannot be assured. I can now confirm that he is already in Sokoto prison.”

“They openly declared that he would 'become a king' if taken to the Kuje correctional center in Abuja, as they believe that 'Igbo people' and his supporters would transform Kuje into a pilgrimage site.”

“This is why they are eager to keep him far away, isolated, and vulnerable.”

“It is also the reason they have mobilized their associates to begin promoting the illusion of 'renewed hope' for MNK, a psychological strategy to pacify the public while they carry out their darkest agenda. Their objective is straightforward: to maintain your hopes just long enough for him to perish in custody.”

“They have no plans to release him, not even for political calculations or electoral convenience.”

“I have previously stated without hesitation that MNK’s most significant adversaries are the politicians from his own region. They fear his influence, they fear his connection with the populace, and they wish to silence him permanently. This is why they have fought vigorously to undermine our #FreeNnamdiKanuNOW protest.”
