The National Judicial Council (NJC) has dismissed petitions by Abdullahi Baffa Bichi against two Federal High Court judges sitting in Kano.

The NJC, in a statement after its 109th meeting on June 25, 2025, presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat M. O. Kekere-Ekun, GCON, said there were no merits on the allegations.

“The joint petition against Hon. Justices A. M. Liman and S. A. Amobeda, and the petition against Hon. Justice Muhammad Auwal Haruna petition are withdrawn and dismissed,”; it stated.

While the nature of the allegations was not disclosed, the NJC said there were five complaints considered at the meeting including those related to appointments into the High Courts of Plateau and Kano States, and Sharia Courts of Appeal in Zamfara and Katsina States.

The NJC reiterated its commitment to promoting accountability in the Judiciary while at the same time guarding against frivolous and malicious complaints against judges.
