Nigerian music artist and activist, Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has expressed that the escalating tribal and religious divisions in the country have been quite distressing for him.

The music star shared this sentiment in response to a tweet from his colleague Nasboi, who encouraged Nigerians to set aside their tribal and religious differences and hold their leaders accountable.

“We have truly remained silent in this country. Reflecting on stories like ‘snake swallowing money.’ These politicians really take us for granted, busy embezzling funds they cannot exhaust in their lifetime. It’s time to prioritize our nation over our tribes and religions,” Nasboi stated.

In his reaction, Falz emphasized that Nigerians must begin to think independently and refrain from allowing politicians to create divisions based on tribal and religious affiliations.

“I cannot adequately convey how disheartening it has been in recent years to witness tribal and religious sentiments being exploited to pit us against one another. At some point, we need to start thinking for ourselves,” he remarked.

He made this appeal in light of the recent supremacy debate among Christian and Muslim youths on social media, which was sparked by US President Donald Trump’s threat to take military action against Nigeria to rescue Christians from alleged genocidal attacks by Islamic terrorists.
