The Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Senator Dayo Adeyeye, has disclosed that the current security challenges facing Nigeria are both sponsored and orchestrated.

Senator Adeyeye stated that these issues are being fueled by certain disgruntled Nigerians who aim to undermine President Bola Tinubu and jeopardize his prospects in the 2027 Presidential election.

Adeyeye made these remarks while delivering a lecture titled, “Mentorship: A Tool for Fostering Progressive Democracy,” as he received the Lifetime Leadership Achievement Award from the Faculty of Administration at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Tuesday.

The lecture and award were part of the second Faculty of Administration week and Mentorship 2025.

Adeyeye emphasized, “The recent violence and kidnappings in the country are being sponsored and orchestrated by a group of individuals who wish to discredit this government and are likely apprehensive about President Bola Tinubu's potential success in 2027.”

The former Minister of Works further indicated that the insecurity challenges are not typical and emphasized that the President is taking the situation very seriously.

He maintained that this situation will ultimately backfire and revealed that President Tinubu has introduced security measures that, if properly implemented, will resolve the problems permanently.

“It is not an ordinary situation, but I can assure you that President Bola Tinubu is currently treating this matter with utmost seriousness.

“In my opinion, the entire security situation will backfire because the President has launched significant security emergency programs which, if properly implemented—with increased personnel, more ammunition, and states having their own police forces—will enable us to overcome this issue and leave it behind us for good,” he concluded.
