A public affairs analyst and Director General of Atum Humanitarian Anti-Corruption & Charitable Initiative, Yusuf Atus, has said that Nigeria’s rise in Transparency International’s 2024 Corruption Perception Index is a testament that the anti-corruption crusade under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is on the right track.

He disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

This comes as the TI 2024 ranking showed that Nigeria rose from 145th to 140th in the Corruption Perception Index.

Reacting, Atus said that the development indicates the global community’s growing confidence in Nigeria’s governance under Tinubu’s leadership.

According to him, the current administration is setting a new tone for transparency and accountability in Nigeria.

“The quantum leap in Nigeria’s TI ranking to 140th from 145th reflects the global community’s growing confidence in Nigeria’s governance under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.”

“This is not business as usual. What we’re witnessing is a deliberate effort to institutionalise integrity and restore dignity to public service.”

“The improvement in our global ranking is not just a statistic; it is a signal that we are on the right path,” he said.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said it secured 4,111 convictions and ₦364 billion in recovery in 2024.
