Nigerians not used to working hard – Orji Kalu

Published on May 27, 2025 at 07:23 PM

A former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said that Nigerians do not like working hard to earn their money.

Kalu, who is the senator representing the Abia North senatorial district in the National Assembly, stated this while hailing the policies of President Bola Tinubu and highlighting reasons why Nigerians would vote for him for a second term.

DAILY POST reports that the lawmaker attended the Senate plenary on Tuesday dressed in an attire embellished with a proclamation of Tinubu’s 2027 presidential ambition.

Addressing reporters after the plenary, Kalu pointed to the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira as the two major achievements of Tinubu.

He noted that although these policies have brought hardship and suffering to Nigerians, there were hopes of things getting better in a matter of two years.

He said: “Down the line, people are still suffering, yes, I agree with that. So I’m hoping that in the next two, three years, the policies of Mr President will trickle down, and Nigerians will appreciate what Mr President is doing.

“I’m not a sycophant. This is the first president (Tinubu) who stopped the subsidy and the first who merged the dollar. That’s why we are suffering; Nigerians are not used to working hard. We are used to getting cheap money.”;;
