The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PiCNG) has begun efforts to enhance public awareness, mobilize grassroots support, and educate citizens nationwide about the economic and environmental advantages of CNG.

This initiative aligns with the federal government’s intensified actions to guide Nigeria towards a more sustainable and inclusive energy future.

During a courtesy visit from the Director-General of the City Boy Movement (CBM), Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, to his office on Tuesday, the Chief Executive Officer of PiCNG, Dr. Ismaeel Ahmed, outlined the government’s strategy for collaboration on grassroots development.

Dr. Ahmed emphasized that partnering with a grassroots organization like CBM will serve as an essential link between federal initiatives and local communities.

He stated that this collaboration would bolster public awareness, mobilize grassroots efforts, and highlight the environmental benefits of CNG, empowering Nigerians to engage in and gain from the evolving gas-powered economy.

“The partnership is anticipated to promote community engagement, expedite the adoption of clean energy solutions, and broaden access to alternative fuel options, especially in underserved regions, as the Federal Government intensifies its efforts to transition Nigeria towards a more sustainable and inclusive energy future,” Dr. Ahmed remarked.

Earlier, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, the Director-General of CBM, pointed out that this initiative directly aligns with the mission of the City Boy Movement, which includes mobilizing citizens at the grassroots level, promoting government policies, economically empowering communities, fostering national unity, and driving sustainable development initiatives across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He mentioned that the PiCNG program serves as a transformative national tool capable of reducing unemployment, stimulating economic growth, and enhancing environmental sustainability.

“The PiCNG initiative, rooted in the Renewed Hope Agenda, advocates for the widespread adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), reduces costs, generates jobs, and promotes environmental sustainability.

“It supports national goals regarding sustainable transport, emission reduction, gas-flaring mitigation, and broad-based economic growth.”

He added that CBM’s role in this partnership is to implement a bottom-up adoption strategy, ensuring that opportunities, training, and infrastructure related to CNG reach communities across the nation, both urban and rural.
