Of the N241.54 billion in electricity bills issued to customers in September, DisCos successfully recovered N196.26 billion, reflecting a 2.69 percent increase in actual collection compared to August. This improvement raised the collection efficiency to 81.25 percent, an increase of 1.18 percent month-on-month.

According to the report, the total energy received by the DisCos was valued at N279.45 billion, out of which N241.54 billion was billed to customers. This results in a billing efficiency of 86.43 percent, marking a 2.58 percent rise compared to August.

Aba Power achieved an impressive billing efficiency of 102.85 percent, attributed to enhanced energy optimization and the recovery of legacy debts.

Benin, Port Harcourt, and Kano DisCos demonstrated moderate efficiencies, indicating gradual improvements in their operations.

Jos, Kaduna, and Yola DisCos continued to fall behind, with NERC highlighting significant opportunities for enhancement in their commercial operations.

NERC emphasized that improving commercial performance is crucial for sustaining investments, enhancing customer experiences, and stabilizing the sector.
