The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has encouraged Nigerians to remain optimistic and united despite current challenges, assuring them that the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu's Administration, along with the significant sacrifices made by citizens, will eventually yield positive results if the nation stays the course.

Mbah noted that although the anniversary may understandably be subdued, it does not diminish Nigeria’s significant achievements as an independent nation.

These sentiments were expressed in his message to Nigerians early Wednesday morning, commemorating the nation’s 65th independence anniversary. In the message, which he personally signed, the governor congratulated the citizens on reaching this "proud milestone."

“At 65, our independence serves as a reminder of what we can accomplish as a united people. It also highlights that progress requires sacrifice, and that our future is shaped by the choices we make today,” he stated.

“While our 65th independence anniversary may be celebrated quietly, the importance of the progress we have made as a nation is anything but insignificant.”

“These achievements are evident in the notable successes we have attained across vital sectors. They are also reflected in the bold reforms implemented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that have stabilized the Nigerian economy. The sacrifices may be substantial today, but there is no doubt that these decisions will be justified if we remain steadfast.”

“As we raise our flags today, let us renew our commitment to Nigeria; let us embrace the spirit of unity, and let us maintain the optimism that has brought us this far,” he emphasized.

Mbah also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to an inclusive development model that ensures no one is left behind, asserting that Enugu State, under his leadership, is on a path to transformation and significant economic growth.

“In Enugu State, this Independence Day is an appropriate moment to reaffirm our pledge to make inclusion the foundation of government policy; to generate wealth and distribute it for the benefit of all residents in Enugu State. We are committed to this path. No one will be left behind.”

“From revitalized assets coming back to life, to Ndi Enugu enjoying a solid sense of security for lives and property, our children transitioning to 260 Smart Green Schools, our rural communities accessing modern healthcare through our completed or ongoing 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres, and Ndi Enugu commuting conveniently and affordably via our modern transportation system and infrastructure, Enugu State is undoubtedly on the path to assured transformation and significant economic growth,” he added.
