The Federal Government has declared that Nigeria is not a place for genocide, but rather “an accommodating paradise” for all its citizens, regardless of their political or religious affiliations.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this statement on Wednesday during the Quarterly Strategy Meeting of the Progressive Governors Forum alongside Commissioners of Information from APC-led States.
According to DAILY POST, the theme of the meeting was ‘FGN Synergy 2025: One message, one future’.
The minister rejected the narrative of genocide in Nigeria, emphasizing that it is untrue.
“This narrative seeks to divide Nigeria and incite hatred, which will not benefit us as a nation,” he stated.
“Such misinformation is more harmful than one can imagine. Nigerians must unite to counter this destructive narrative that undermines our unity and prosperity.
“We must develop the ability to confront such bias and false narratives, not only within our domestic media but also on the international stage.
“Nigerians have made significant progress and are united by common values. Nothing should drive us to hate one another,” Idris asserted.
Idris encouraged the Commissioners for Information to avoid relying on sources of fake news and misinformation and instead focus on initiatives that promote the unity and prosperity of Nigeria.
