Niger: Gov Bago reviews curfew from 8 pm to 6 am in Minna

Published on May 05, 2025 at 07:22 PM

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has reviewed the curfew time in the Minna metropolis.

The governor, in a statement by his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, said the adjustment, effective from today, will now commence from 8 pm to 6 am.

The governor explained that the adjustment was due to a security update he received from the State Security Committee.

According to him, “My administration will always continue to engage the security committee on the outcome of the curfew for further adjustment where necessary.”;

The governor encouraged the people to continue to be law-abiding citizens, as his administration is determined to implement policies that will impact positively on them and ensure their wellbeing.

Recall that on 22nd April 2025, the governor imposed a curfew on commercial motorcycle operators (Okada riders) and Keke NAPEP drivers in Minna, the state capital, from 6 pm to 6 am daily.

Bago announced this decision during a stakeholders’ meeting, citing the need to mitigate insecurity in the state capital, which had resulted in the loss of lives.
