Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has voiced his concern regarding the increasing tendency of Nigerian students to utilize social media for spreading negative narratives about the country.

Bago expressed this concern during a visit from the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Olushola Oladoja, along with other executives at the government house in Minna.

He urged the association to lead efforts in fostering patriotism and responsible use of social media among students nationwide.

“One of the key responsibilities I believe you have is the ongoing reorientation of students to use social media in a patriotic manner, to foster love for Nigeria,” Bago emphasized.

He encouraged students to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's initiatives and engage in food security efforts by establishing student-run farms.

NANS President, Comrade Oladoja, assured that the association would promote dialogue and raise awareness among students about the significance of effective communication.

“We have already initiated a campaign on campuses highlighting the necessity for Nigerian students to embrace dialogue through effective communication to address issues that concern them,” he remarked.

Oladoja commended President Tinubu’s initiatives, including the introduction of a zero-interest student loan, and expressed gratitude to Governor Bago for providing scholarships and youth appointments.
