The Boys Brigade of Nigeria, Niger State Council, has urged both federal and state governments to take prompt action to ensure the safe return of over 200 students from St. Mary’s Catholic Missionary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, who are still in captivity.
Jonathan Vatsa, the President of the Boys Brigade of Nigeria, Niger Council, made this request in Minna during this year's concert for 150 Trumpeters of the Boys Brigade, themed “Worship the King of Kings,” held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Minna, Niger.
With Christmas approaching in just three weeks, he called on both state and federal authorities to hasten their efforts to secure the safe release of the abducted students.
Vatsa, a former commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism in the state, expressed, “It would be devastating for the parents if their children were to spend Christmas in captivity. As parents ourselves, we understand the pain this brings.” He urged the authorities to expedite the rescue efforts.
He also emphasized the significance of the trumpet concert, stating that it serves as a platform to instill moral discipline in the youth, who are the foundation of the Boys Brigade.

The former commissioner linked the increasing incidents of crime, insurgency, and banditry in the country to inadequate moral upbringing, emphasizing that engaging youth in constructive activities can deter them from wrongdoing.
Vatsa explained that the theme was selected to resonate with current challenges, encouraging attendees to seek divine intervention through praise and worship.
“We need to return and seek His intervention, which can be achieved through praise and worship,” he added.
The concert marked the conclusion of the Boys Brigade's activities for 2025, featuring participation from all 25 local government areas in Niger State.
