MANCHESTER UNITED and Newcastle are set to be locked in ANOTHER transfer battle to land Nick Woltemade as their next striker.

Bayern Munich had been in pole position to sign Woltemade, 23, – who is valued at £40million.

Woltemade was – and was the tournament’s top goalscorer with six.

He rose through the academy ranks at Werder Bremen and was a regular for them at various different youth levels.

Woltemade, who has earned one senior cap, then broke into their first-team as a teenager and scored two goals in 51 games.

He was loaned out to SV Elversberg to get some experience under his belt.

Bremen cashed in on him 12 months ago when Stuttgart came calling.

He has since been prolific and has fired 17 goals in 33 matches.

Speaking earlier this month Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth said: “Nick is back [at Stuttgart training], we’re in contact.

“His teammates welcomed him with a smile, and he arrived with a smile. I think he was happy to be back. He’s making a very good impression. He’s in good shape.”

Howe has endured a difficult transfer window so far–having already seen deals for forwards,,andhijacked.
