The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Plateau State, Bassey Ewah, has vowed to build on the existing peace in the state and ensure the safety and security of all citizens.

During his maiden press briefing with on Thursday in Jos, Ewah warned it will not be business as usual under his watch.

He emphasised the importance of collaboration with other security agencies and the public to address security challenges.

“We will work with the good people of Plateau State to identify and address security challenges, and we will not rest until we achieve our goals,” he said.

The Commissioner also stressed the need for professionalism and discipline among police officers, urging them to “bring their best game forward” and work towards restoring Plateau State’s reputation as the “Home of Peace and Tourism”.

Ewah’s appointment was announced by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on February 3, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen law enforcement in the state.
