A NEW large indoor attraction featuring a tropical water park and ski slope has been approved to open in the UK.
Initially announced in 2017, the development will be located near the town of Merthyr Tydfil in Wales.

Councillors at Merthyr Tydfil Council have now granted approval for the project to move forward.
Council leader Brent Carter described the project as a “groundbreaking gamechanger,” noting that it will “complement the offerings of Bike Park, Zip World, and Rock UK-Climbing Centre.”
He added, “This project will significantly support and enhance our economy and provide numerous opportunities for our future generations.”
The 575-acre site is situated on a former coal mine.
The primary attraction of the new complex will be the indoor ski slope, which is set to become the largest in the UK upon completion.
Measuring 400 meters in length, it will serve as the GB training base for sports teams.
This will surpass the current largest slope in the UK, which is 180 meters, and will be one of the longest in the world (the largest currently is in Germany, stretching 640 meters).
The complex will also feature an indoor water attraction, although details about this are still limited.
Previous plans indicated that the water park may include artificial beaches, slides, and pools.

The indoor and outdoor activity centers will include zip wires, climbing walls, high rope courses, and slides.
Additionally, there will be 30 woodland lodges on-site, along with a 418-room hotel featuring co-working spaces and more.
While the project has received the green light, it remains unclear when the massive attraction will officially open.
However, it has been suggested that construction could take approximately two and a half years, potentially leading to a mid-2028 opening.
Pricing for tickets and hotel accommodations has yet to be disclosed.
This is not the only major new holiday resort planned to open in the UK.
A resort with 250 lodges, adventure trails, and an activity lake is set to open in the Peak District.
PEAK Gateway aims to launch its first phase as early as next year.
US-based Great Wolf Resorts also plans to establish a location.
