NETFLIX is facing widespread criticism for a plan to release a new documentary on the Idaho murders.

The streaming platform shared a trailer for its upcoming release, which will detail the .

The documentary, titled The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare, will be released on Netflix on July 29.

“After four University of Idaho college students were found murdered in an off-campus home, their tight-knit town was shattered as their killer walked free for weeks,” Netflix captioned a trailer of the new documentary.

In November 2022, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20 and Ethan Chapin, 20, were found in an off-campus house in Moscow, Idaho.

Bryan Kohberger was later arrested and charged with four first-degree murder charges.

In July 2025, to the murders of the four college students and later received four life sentences.

The trailer for the new documentary begins by showing bodycam footage of police arriving at the house where the four students were fatally stabbed.

Kaylee’s mother, Kristi Goncalves is seen at one point during the trailer saying “I knew something bad had happened.”

During the hunt for Kohberger, the Idaho college murders attracted true crime fans from across the world.

Many shared different theories and police received thousands of tips throughout their investigation.

However, the release of a new documentary on the murders has sparked criticism from some viewers.

“Still profiting off this? Enough with these already, let these families heal,” one X user said.

“Why is everything a documentary. Let these kids rest,” another said

A third questioned how the new documentary will be different from others that have already been released covering the murders.

“Cash grab for Netflix, Profiting off Serial killers is evil,” another wrote.
